There is no art to buying stuff at a second-hand store, but it helps to have a good eye.
With “Antique Roadshow” and similar programs, thrift shopping popularity has increased, but finding that Diamond in the Rough is a rarity.
I mainly shop for myself, looking for retro clothes , electronics, and houseware. And what I’m looking for borders on Cheesy and Kitschy…from 8-track players to 70s Nehru jackets to mid-century wall clocks. I’m not going to turn down a pair of 80s nylon parachute pants either!
If you ever do any thrift-shopping, it’s like yard sales: the early bird gets the…deal. And I have learned, if you see something you really like and the price is within reason, go ahead and get it…it probably won’t be there next time. Happy bargain hunting KIX1029ers! ~ Brian
