Meet Mia, a 1 year 9 month old Hound-Shepherd mix.
This beautiful and sweet girl went through a lot before she came to Second Chance and has been through a lot since.
She had been turned into a county shelter with a severely broken leg and a good amount of ‘road rash’. We believe that she had been hit by a car.
She came to Second Chance and began a long journey to recovery. Despite the terrible pain she must have been in, Mia was always very sweet. She had surgery to place several pins and large rods into her leg. These stayed in for about 6 weeks, while she learned to use her leg again. Since then, she has had the rods removed and her leg has healed.
Mia simply adores people – she has a huge smile when she sees you!
Mia still carries some of the stress of her previous life and takes Trazadone for anxiety, but this is well controlled on the medication, which is inexpensive. Once she is in her forever home, we believe she may be able to be weaned off of it.
Mia would be best as an only dog. She has been through so much in such a short time and we would love to see her with a family who will give he the same unconditional love she gives you.
Mia will kiss your tears away when you cry, play bow when you are laughing and will hug you simply because she loves you. She is a wonderful dog, who truly deserves a second chance.
